First week back after half term!
This week in English we have been learning about reading information and finding answers from the information. We have linked this learning with our bird book from last term. We focused on reading information about penguins and a bird called ‘Night jars’ which can also be called ‘The moth trap’.
In maths, we have started learning about fractions. We used a slice of bread to cut it into halves, quarters and eighths. The children really wanted to eat the bread after!
It was important for the children to understand that a fraction means part of a whole. Using the bread was good visualisation of a whole, a half and a quarter.
Any extra learning about fractions at home would be beneficial.
In RE the children learnt about the bible story ‘Jesus feeds 5000’. After, we shared what we were thankful for.
Exciting this week as chicks were hatched in Year 2. The children got to meet the cute chicks and hold them!
