Noun phases, dialogue and adjective alphabet.
This week Robins class have continued work on the wordless book The Journey, using it to develop story writing skills. This week they have focused on setting a scene using interesting noun phrases AND writing and including dialogue. In preparation the pupils created an adjective alphabet using dictionaries to find at least two adjectives for each letter ( x was difficult and we cheated a bit by allowing ex!) This was then typed up in Widget and we have been using the list for a starter game. A good game to play at home is to go through the alphabet and see if you can name an adjective for every letter ( you can also play this game with nouns or verbs). Or you can give them one letter and ask them to find as many words from a particular word class ( noun, verb, adjective etc. as they can). All the children worked really hard on story writing, finding quiet placed in the classroom to concentrate on their work and using dictionaries, thesaurus and information from the working walls to support them. They will be continuing and finishing them tomorrow.
