Cold but fantastic week!
The children edited their story writing with me which was great to focus on sentence structure and fronted adverbials. We also looked at paragraphs and when to use a new paragraph. We looked at ToP TiP. Hopefully they can tell you a new paragraph is used for a different time, person, place and topic.
In maths we have been estimating and finding missing numbers. For example, 2500 + ? = 4000. To work this out they needed to remember the inverse to help them.
In topics we have been learning the Romans trading – the exchanging of objects with other countries.
In science, we looking at the eye and labelling the pupil, iris, lens and corneas. We also discussed about donors because the conversation led to transplants and they were interested how people can donate body parts.
This week has been the Deaf Olympics which the children have really enjoyed watching. They lovd cheering for an ex student of Heathlands who was competing in the Buttery fly swim. It can be watched online and finishes next Wednesday.
The BBC were in on Thursday and the interpreter who is also a teacher of the Deaf stayed afterwards to chat to the children. He also played his trumpet which the children found hilarious.
Polite reminder – homework to be completed and back to school by Wednesday.
Have a lovely weekend and stay warm! 🙂
