Care Policy & Practice
We aim to provide a friendly, comfortable and secure environment where the pupils are safe and happy when they are living away from home.
We recognise the importance of working in partnership with parents and endeavour to support students as they keep in touch with their families and carers throughout the week. The Heath House team also maintain excellent links with teaching staff to support the development of study skills and promote achievement.
All pupils go though an induction period when the join Heath House so that they become familiar with the staff, routines and their new environment. Each pupil will have an individual care plan which will address all aspects of their physical care (including any particular medical requirements), social and emotional needs and communication abilities. Weekly records are kept of individual’s progress and formal reports made for annual statement reviews.
Pupils will also have an independence plan which aims to support their development of self management and life skills. This will include support to access activities in the wider community and constructive use of leisure time.
Safeguarding is key to pupils’ well being and is addressed at all levels. Stringent procedures are in place for protecting children and ensuring the environment they live and work in is safe.
