As part of our learning this week we have been writing patterned poems about flying on a magic carpet.
We looked at verbs that could be used instead of flying e.g. gliding, floating, shooting etc.
We thought about if those verbs related to movement that was fast, slow or either then thought about adverbs that would describe the movement e.g. swiftly, carefully, slowly, quickly etc.
We then used the words we had collected to write lines of a poem with the order: verb, adverb, preposition, adjective, noun.
When they had finished drafting their poems they wrote them in their best handwriting, then illustrated them carefully to show what each line meant and they also signed their poems onto video. Excellent, careful concentration from all the class.
