Historical start to the Half Term
It has been a busy first few weeks to this half term.
Last week Lynx class enjoyed going to Celtic Harmony where they were able to experience life inside a roundhouse and were involved in the daily life activities of a Celt including making flour and dough, weaving, making a stew, and dying material using natural things.
This week, Lynx class went to St Albans Cathedral for their annual Roman Festival. We were greeted by a Roman soldier when we arrived at the Cathedral, later we discussed different Roman objects and we did an archeological dig and looked at objects from different stages in history. We made Roman sweet and savoury foods which all children tasted. In the afternoon the children did a re-enactment of the story of St Alban and how he became martyred.
It has been a great first 3 weeks so far this term and everyone is full of historical knowledge about the Romans!
