Happy Valentine’s Day
Have a lovely half term
Have a lovely half term
This week in English, the children have been focusing on two languages used in school – BSL and English. They have been learning about the features of both languages and the difference between them.
The children have been comparing BSL and English sentences.. yesterday they worked on translating English sentences into BSL, today they focused on translating BSL sentences into English. Great work!
In maths, foxes class recapped how to read and understand questions. The children worked out independently to work out and answer the questions. They focused on equal groups and worked out how many were in each groups, then found the total altogether.
It’s very important that the children read the questions carefully and take their time when answering. They did amazingly well and completed the worksheet on their own.
I slowly introduced the multiplication symbols and explained its purpose. The children now understand multiplication links to countering in 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s and 10s. They are learning what multiplication means and understand that they start with the number of groups and the number in one group to work out the total altogether.
Well done!
Over the past few weeks, the children have been learning how to blend colour using paint. Today they painted a sunset, blending four colours. Great work 🤩
The children made their own fossils and discovered how scientists found dinosaurs in this way.
Last week in history, we introduced dinosaurs and discussed whether they were real or they are still here and how we know they once existed. The children shared their ideas and guessed what might have happened to them. There were no right or wrong answers – everyone’s thoughts are welcome.
The children explored and examined fossils, looking closely at their shades. This helped them understand how people discovered dinosaurs as dinosaurs lived long before humans came into the world.
The children showed fantastic behaviour and a great enthusiasm for learning.
This term, the children have been learning about how flight has developed from the past to the present. They discovered who first invented the aeroplane – the wright brothers. The children focused on the different features of plane and what they are used for and they also explored the material planes are made from.
The children were split into two groups; one group made an old style plane using wood and the other made a modern plane using plastic and metal. The children were very creative – fantastic work!
This link should take you to the Snow White video filmed at the Christmas play.
