Home Learning
At Heathlands we recognise the importance of home learning for consolidating skills and promoting a work ethic.
Lower school pupils all have daily reading and are encouraged to read with an adult at home each evening. Pupils also have spellings to learn and these are generally given at the start of the week and tested on a Friday. Some pupils may be asked to keep a weekend diary and bring it to school on a Monday for discussion, this is particularly to support the development of the pupils’ language and communication skills.
KS2 pupils will also have times tables to practice and other home learning to support and consolidate their understanding of things taught in class.
Ideas of different ways to support pupils learn their spellings can be found on the attached sheet or the video found on the English channel.
