Otter class have had an exciting and busy week doing different activities to celebrate Heathlands 50th Birthday! They looked at the exhibition in the hall, planted bulbs (later these will grow into yellow and blue flowers) did a quiz around school and even designed their own school uniform!
The children have been making a Roman helmet using mosaic squares in topic time. They have been looking at different ways to help learn their spellings, bu using scrabble tiles, chalk, stamps and play doh.
This week in Art, Foxes explored how to mix paints to create the skin tones. In History this week, the children looked at old photos of Heathlands school from a long time ago. They then used their detective skills to find the place the photograph had been taken all those years ago. Heathlands school has certainly changed!
This week Foxes class has been recapping prepositions. We used real life objects to help us understand how they work. In English lesson, we read Fox’s Socks and talked about where the fox found his clothes, using prepositions to describe the places.
Pine Martens class used the book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ to learn about synonyms and wrote their own complaint letters. They also visited the Celtic Harmony camp and raised money for sixth form students to visit Gambia by painting their teacher’s head.
The pupils in moles class really enjoyed their visit to St Albans Cathedral for their Roman festival yesterday. Among the things they did was dressing up to tell the story of St Alban.
It has been a busy first few weeks to this half term.
