In English we are following the story of the peppered moth. The world is changing. How will this species evolve to survive? Today we used our thesaurus skills to extend our vocabulary and describe the changed environment.
In maths we are revising our addition and subtraction skills with a focus on the language used in question.
Our butterflies have begun to emerge from their cocoons
In science we have been identifying animals and matching them to their offspring.
Today in maths the children were split into 2 teams, they had to work together in order to solve different maths problems and figure out the code to unlock the icebox.
This is a short week!
On Wednesday we played some language and spelling based games to extend our vocabulary and further develop our teamwork skills. We also wrote about our trip to the zoo.
In maths we are revisiting addition and subtraction across 10.
In science we observed our class caterpillars transform!
This afternoon Goldfinch and peacock class have been practising their cutting and peeling skills. They have been tasting different fruits to decide which ones they like. they will use this to plan and make their own fruit salad in 2 weeks time.
On Wednesday, children from year 2 were lucky enough to visit the zoo! Children saw lots of animals including hippos, penguins and lions, had a fantastic ride on a steam train and finished the day with ice cream!
This week in science we have been learning about the life cycle of a chicken.
Our chicks have grown so much!
Today they left school for their forever homes. The children have really enjoyed having them and it has been a really lovely learning experience for us all.
Just a quick reminder that goldfinch class have PE on a Monday and Friday afternoon, please could you make sure that your child has their PE kit in school. if PE kits are taken home after an after school club, please could you make sure they are brought in the next day.

In maths this week children have been enjoying maths games and code cracking challenges to reinforce their addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills.
In English we have been focusing on new vocabulary and word categories.
