Woodpeckers class have been learning about the dangers of Pollution in Geography.
They did an experiment where they started out with clean water and then added common things that end up in rivers, streams and seas such as cooking oil, rubbish and food products.
They then tried to work together to clean the water to go back to clear water again.
We all soon realised it wasn’t possible to get clean water again and understood why it’s so important to keep rivers, streams and seas clean.
Important information – e-safety.
It has come to our attention that over the holiday some children have been watching an internet channel called “I show speed” or “ishowspeed”. This site shows some content that is racist, sexist and sexually explicit and not appropriate for children.
Please make sure your children are not able to access this. The children are at an age and stage where it is difficult for them to make judgements about what is and isn’t appropriate and they are very easily influenced by what they see. They therefore need adults to be monitoring what they are watching to ensure their safety.
If you haven’t yet had a chance to watch the parents twilight talk on smartphone free childhoods, you can find it here: https://heathlands.herts.sch.uk/e-safety-parent-zone/
We have been encouraged by the number of parents who have already signed up to the internet free childhood pledge (so that children don’t have their own smart phone before 14) and would encourage you to consider signing up if you haven’t already. https://smartphonefreechildhood.co.uk/
Welcome back after the holiday.
I hope you have had a good break and I have enjoyed seeing the children’s holiday diaries and them telling us what they have been up to.
The topic for this term is “All Around us/ You can make a difference”. This term the children will have swimming on Tuesdays and PE on Thursday afternoons.
If you would like paper copies of any policies or information on this website, please contact the school and this can be arranged.
