Lovely week :)
In topic we have been learning about pollution and the effects this has on animals. The children learnt a new word ‘smog’. We poured cooking oil (explained why it couldn’t be petrol or car oil) and the children tried to remove it from the water. This was to help the children to understand why oil spills are damaging and hard to clean. We then put a feather in the oil to show how pollution harms wildlife.
In English we looked at real newspapers and identified headlines, photos, captions, and subheadings.
In maths, the children have been finding amounts of ½ ¼ and 1/3. Please look at the photos for the method I used to teach the children. You can use this method to help them. Any questions please do ask.
Today we also started learning about finding amounts of ¾.
Next Monday, we have D live theatre company coming into Heathlands to work with Firecrest and Swift class.
Annual Review meetings are also next Thursday and Friday, please check your time.
