Superb but hot week :)
In maths we have been learning about money. Key vocabulary: how much? cost, price, change and reduced.
We looked at real money to learn their value and bank cards. We role played going to an ATM and purchasing an item of clothing.
We have also been adding money and making different amounts. Children were adding amounts such as £5.50 + £2.25 and needed to remember to apply the column method. We have been finding change which they find a little more challenging, in particular understanding it’s the total amount of money take away the price of the item.
Any practise at home would be beneficial.
In English the children created their newspaper report about a missing bird. They typed their reports up on the Chromebooks.
The year 5 children have been learning about air resistance, water resistance and friction over the past few weeks. They have made parachutes to test different materials and made a boat to learn about why some transportation is streamlined.
