Warm and wonderful :)
It has been a great week in Firecrest class. We have started a new book in English called ‘What’s it like to be a bird?’ which is fantastic non-fiction book by Tim Birkhead with great illustrations. The children will be learning about features of non-fiction books so if they have any at home please read and discuss together any features (for example contents page, sub headings, dates).
In maths, the children have been learning about different types of triangles and their properties. Hopefully they can share with you what defines a triangle and the some of the names (isosceles, scalene and equilateral triangle).
On Wednesday, the Year 5’s had a super time at the science museum in London. We got the train and underground to South Kensington where we then walked to the museum. They saw a live demonstration of chemicals and witnessed lots of amazing scientific things. The children were really well behaved and represented Heathlands proudly.
Year 5 bike mobility is happening very soon. The company have sent this information below:
It is really important that bikes and helmets are checked before the course starts, we will be able to make some changes but as time is limited, please encourage this is done before the first day. Just a reminder:
This year, it is 80 years since VE Day so there are many celebrations nationally.
Next Thursday, we will be celebrating meaning that children (and staff) can wear their own clothes to school in the colour of their national flag.
