The children have finished painting their balloons following their plans. The hot balloon is now hung up and looks stunning. The children can’t wait to take it to home at end of year 2!

As part of our Fantastic Flight topic, the children discovered that the hot air balloon was one of the inventions that allowed people to fly in the sky a long time ago.
In art the children have been planning and designing their own hot air balloon, which will eventually become 3D models. Yesterday they made the small basket that will be attached to their balloon. They followed their designs plan carefully and coloured their 3D baskets exactly as they had planned. No changes allowed.
Today the children made the 3D balloon itself using plastic cast bandages and a balloon, getting everything ready for painting next week.
Foxes learned about fiction and non-fiction. They learned what features they have and looked at different books. They talked about what makes a book fiction or non-fictions. They worked together to sort the books into groups.

This week, Foxes class have been learning how to change verbs into past tense by adding ‘ed’. The children wrote their own lovely sentences using past tense verbs. Well done!
The children learnt how to stay healthy. This includes eating good food, keeping clean and doing exercise.
This week, the children learnt about food groups. They talked about different types of food that help our bodies.
After that, the children made their own healthy sandwiches. They chose healthy ingredients from different food groups.
Fun activity. The children enjoyed making and eating their sandwiches. Yummy!!
This week in Art, Foxes explored how to mix paints to create the skin tones. The children discovered that by blending white and pink they could make a soft pink and then adding a touch of yellow to helped them match the colour of their own skin. They experimented carefully, noticing how a little more of one colour changed the shade. Once they had mixed the perfect tone, they painted their self-portrait drawing with care.
This week Foxes class has been recapping prepositions. We used real life objects to help us understand how they work. In English lesson, we read Fox’s Socks and talked about where the fox found his clothes, using prepositions to describe the places.
The children are learning how to write numbers to 100 in words by breaking them into parts. They focus on the tens (like thirty, forty, fifty) and the ones (like one, two, three) then put them together. They match number cards to word cards and check their answers with a partner. What a great lesson!
